Very Impressed with the professional service. Explained clearly the process and any problems encountered.
Over the past decade, the way I run A.M Electrics Devon Ltd has changed dramatically. While the core of what I do keeping your home safe, efficient and well-wired—has stayed the same, everything behind the scenes looks very different now.
It wasn’t that long ago that I’d write down customer details on a scrap of paper, handwrite quotes, and keep a folder in the van with all my job sheets and certificates. Simple, clear, and straightforward. Fast forward just ten years, and we’ve gone fully digital. Every job now involves online systems, cloud-based paperwork, certification software, accounting platforms, automated messages, compliance documents—and that’s before I even get to quoting the work. It’s no exaggeration to say I now spend nearly as much time behind a screen as I do with a screwdriver.
More Efficient - But at What Cost?
There’s no doubt that modern tools have their benefits. I can access certificates instantly, send quotes in minutes, and keep track of customer history with a few clicks. And with Nathan, our brilliant office manager, helping to handle the admin side of things during business hours, we’re able to stay on top of it all while keeping communication personal and responsive. Having Nathan on board means our customers never have to chase us or wonder what’s happening with their job—there’s always someone available to speak to, whether I’m on-site or handling another project.
But even with two of us, the amount of red tape and compliance we’re dealing with now is a big shift from the days of pen and paper. Health and safety regulations, insurance paperwork, digital invoicing, certificates, data protection...it all adds up.
The Tools May Change—But the Values Stay the Same
What hasn’t changed is the way I approach my work. Whether it’s a new socket, a full rewire, or just a quick call-out, you’ll still get the same personal service that A.M Electrics Devon Ltd is known for. You’ll still deal with me directly for quotes and on-site work, and Nathan will always be on hand in the office to answer your calls and emails. The systems may have evolved, but the way we care for our customers hasn’t.
What About You?
I know I’m not the only one who’s seen this shift. Whether you work in a trade, an office, or run your own business, I’d love to know has technology made your working life easier, or just more complicated? Drop us a message, let’s see how others feel about it too.
