Very Impressed with the professional service. Explained clearly the process and any problems encountered.
At A.M. Electrics, our mission is to power homes and businesses reliably — but to me, it’s just as important to power communities. That’s one key reason I decided to join Rotary Newton Abbot.
Giving Back to an Incredible Community (and Beyond)
I joined Rotary not just to lend a hand locally, but to contribute to something bigger. Through Rotary, I can be part of a global network committed to service above self — where projects span from right here in our neighbourhood to causes further afield. It gives me the opportunity to give back in ways that are meaningful, sustainable, and connected to real need.
What Rotary Does (Especially Behind the Scenes)
Some of what Rotary accomplishes is visible — fundraising events, local campaigns, charity dinners — but much of the impact happens quietly, in partnership and long-term support. Here’s a peek behind the curtain:
- Local support you might see: fund-raising events, community meals, gardening groups, speaker nights, collaboration with schools or social organisations.
- Local support you may not see: Rotary members often donate time and professional skills, mentor youth, assist community groups in applying for grants, support foodbanks, organize infrastructure or maintenance projects, and coordinate help in emergencies.
- Beyond the local area: through Rotary’s broader network, we support international projects (e.g. health, clean water, disaster relief) and partner with charities across the world.
What You Do See, What You Don’t
You might catch glimpses of Rotary Newton Abbot at public events, or see our members at community dinners or meetings. But you might not appreciate:
- the planning, coordination and volunteer hours behind each project
- the partnerships with other charities, local government bodies, schools and nonprofits
- how often we quietly respond to needs that don’t have the spotlight
In Closing
For me, joining Rotary is about more than volunteering — it’s about belonging to a community that believes in support, fairness, and improving lives, one project at a time. I’m proud to stand alongside my fellow Rotarians here in Newton Abbot (a club that has been serving the district since 1922) in helping build a stronger, kinder, more connected place for everyone.
